The B1 Preliminary (former PET – Preliminary English Test) qualification shows that you have mastered the basics of English and have the language skills needed for everyday use. B1 level is very popular with employers, so having the qualification is very useful for many jobs requiring occasional use of English.
Goal
At B1 level, the user can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, study and leisure situations. They can deal with most situations likely to arise when travelling in areas where the language is used. Can produce simple, coherent texts on topics which are familiar to him/her or in which he/she has a personal interest. Can describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions or plans.

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The CEFR is a language proficiency measurement system introduced in 2002 by the European Union which classifies users into six levels and is common to all its countries. Its reliability and simplicity, together with its large number of users, have gradually made it the standard used by most countries around the world. This is why a certificate that has the backing of the European Union, the issuing agency of the CEFR, is a guarantee of recognition in the majority of fields, both professional and academic.
Official Cambridge Examinations
Cambridge Assessment English has rigorously respected the CEFR since its inception and this has built a reputation that has made them the most widely recognised qualifications in the world. This prestige guarantees companies and institutions that candidates who have passed their exams have the skills and competences they certify.

The course
In order to take the exam, it is essential to have the necessary language level and to know the format of the exam perfectly. An official certification exam is a race against time, so knowing the format of the exam will allow you to save time and thus better demonstrate your language skills.
To do this, this course divides its time between getting to know the format of the exam and polishing your language. Initially we will spend most of the time familiarising you with the format and strategies to then spend more time polishing your language.
It is important to clarify that in order to start this exam preparation you must already have a language level equivalent or close to the one mentioned above in the objective. So that you have no doubts, you will do a needs analysis and a level test before the first class and I will advise you on the best option.
Structure of the course
Learn
1. Know the format of the exam
You will learn about the structure and operation of the exam.
2. Know the strategies for each part

3. Apply the strategies
You will do two tests during your individual time focusing on the strategies you have seen. Classes will be used to correct them.
4. Polish your language

I remind you that you don’t have to buy anything, the materials are included in the course. The exam book will be our main material: you will learn to familiarise yourself by practising the format from the beginning. The preparation book will be our guide to the exam and we will use it to perfect specific aspects of your language.
